Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga asana might best described as a supported, conscious body/mind relaxation practice. In most restorative yoga asana practice, the body is supported with props (bolsters, blankets, etc...), the body relaxes and opens, releasing tension and stored-up toxins that can cause illness. The entire body is fully supported, so that no muscles are being contracted. You may be surprised by how rejuvenated you feel upon coming out of a restorative posture. The stretch can be subtle, yet powerful.

Restorative postures offer benefits to both the body and mind, for conditions ranging from insomn
ia to asthma to chronic pain to migraines to depression. It has been proven as a wonderful practice for recovering from surgery, finding relief and balance from arthritis, cancer, and just feels fantastic as a light, centering practice.

This is a practice for everyone and like all yoga practices, allows stress to melt away and invites a sense of inner peace. Restorative Yoga asana is so very delicious.
